130 Years of Bristol Rugby
The book: 130 Years of Bristol Rugby

130 Years of Bristol Rugby tells the fascinating story of Bristol’s premier rugby club from its formation in 1888 as Bristol Football Club right up to its recent rebranding as Bristol Bears. Club historian Mark Hoskins has provided a definitive account of the club’s past, with a full chapter devoted to each season. The doings of the Bristol United team, which was formed to provide rugby for returning servicemen in November 1918, are related in detail for the first time, while there is also comprehensive coverage of the Second World War seasons during which Bristol Supporters ran a team. In addition, the history includes biographical details of players who died in the two World Wars.

Club statistician Neil Williams has provided a comprehensive statistical section, with full details of the achievements of both the team as a whole and individual players. The history is illustrated throughout with photos and with images of club memorabilia.
This is a comprehensive review of a great rugby club, and it will appeal not only to the club’s players and supporters, but to those with a general interest in rugby history as well as anyone with an interest in the history of the City of Bristol.

'130 Years of Bristol Rugby' is now available for £25 in the Ashton Gate store Or you can contact Mark Hoskins directly on mark-hoskins@hotmail.co.uk .
