Once again the Rugby Memorabilia Society has the privilege of sharing items from the Philip Dudley Waller collection. This time we have the Honours Caps presented to Phil Waller during his illustrious playing career.
More from the Phillip Dudley Waller Collection, Phil Waller played against the 1908/09 touring Wallabies on three occasions, firstly for Somerset at Taunton on Saturday 28th November, secondly for Wales 'which was his first Cap' a 9-6 victory for the hosts and finally for Newport which Australia won 5-3.
This was the first time Wales had travelled to France for an international at the Stade Colombes (played on Shrove Tuesday), This French international jersey forms part of the Phillip Dudley Waller collection (who at the time was playing club rugby for Newport RFC),It is unknown which Frenchman would of worn this Jersey.
Our 2018 AGM was hosted by Bristol Saracens RFC on Sunday June 3rd, with many old and new faces coming to the event. Our Guest Speaker was former Bath, Gloucester, Melbourne Rebel, NEC Green Rockets, Ospreys, Welsh International & current Bristol RFC team manager Gareth Delve who spoke very well about his Rugby career.
These illustrations covering the 1908 Anglo-Welsh (British Lions) tour of New Zealand were drawn by cartoonist ‘William Blomfield’ for the NZ weekly paper ‘The Observer’, these were produced for each of the Test matches.
