An extremely rare team photograph of the 1930 British Rugby Team (British & Irish Lions) that toured New Zealand, Australia and Ceylon (Sri Lanka). This photo was taken on 24th July 1930 at Whakarewarewa with Guide Rangi at her Wharepuni. Guide Rangi ‘is sat between Doug Prentice, British team Captain and James Baxter, manager of the British team’

The British Team played 21 matches on the New Zealand leg of the tour winning 15 and losing 6 (scoring 420 points and conceding 205). Britain won the 1st Test against the All Blacks in Dunedin in terrible conditions 6-3, but lost the remaining 3 Tests.
