New Zealand made 10 changes from the side that had beaten Scotland four days earlier. Not too much was expected from the North. The North of Scotland outscored the visitors by 2 tries to 1, with NZ relying on Mike Gilbert’s powerful goal kicking to get them out of trouble.
The half time score was 6-6, with Gilbert kicking two penalties to the host 2x tries from Bain and then Hunter. NZ largely dominated the second half their forwards winning the lions share of the scrums and line-outs. Gilbert kicked his third penalty of the match ‘a monster of an effort from halfway that just cleared the bar’ Charlie Oliver raced 40 yards to score New Zealand’s only try.

The match was played in near perfect conditions & the final score was 12-6 to the All Blacks
